What’s in a number?

I suppose it’s all in how you look at it. I honestly feel like I’m still in my 20s – until I look in the mirror anyway. Those lines are getting longer and deeper. I would like to think that I don’t look my age but all those celebs and even “common” people now getting their Botox, face lifts, tummy tucks and other “enhancements” are raising the bar on those of us who are “au naturale”. No matter how much of that concentrated goo-in-a-pot one slathers on, you just can’t stop time or gravity.

But most importantly I have to say that I’m very happy with my life where it is right now. I love my job and consider myself one of the lucky few who gets to do something she loves on a daily basis. My boys are good kids – they stay out of trouble and get decent grades. Their friends are good kids too. My husband and I are at a “good place” in our marriage, and our family life is really wonderful. I am truly blessed!

To celebrate my blessings, my husband and good friend Debs planned an extremely fun evening of alcohol and karaoke at a bar in our neighborhood Saturday night. I was so happy to see so many of our friends in one place, but I do feel badly that I couldn’t spend as much one-on-one time with them. Even a few of the girls from work made the trip out, which wasn’t exactly a short drive for them. If you were there, I hope you had a good time. I hear Keith still has some dates available on his calendar if you would like to book him for your next party.

This is not Keith, but I thought it was worth sharing….

Tonight – for my actual birthdate – we are going to one of my favorite restaurants, Joe’s Real Barbecue. They have free dinner on your birthday and this will mark the second year in a row that I’m taking advantage of that offer. In fact, I can see many more BBQ birthdays in my future!

In other news, Eric’s lacrosse team has not been doing so hot. His game on Saturday in Tucson was pretty one-sided but at least they scored 3 goals this time. Eric enjoys playing defender but has expressed to his coach that he wants to give middy a try so he can “get revenge” on those players on the other team who come after him. His next game is tomorrow night (Wednesday 1/31) at 7pm.

Not much news with Justin – he’s been working on his schoolwork so that he is allowed (by us) to play lacrosse in the Spring. Terry is going to the FBR Open on Saturday with some neighborhood friends, but we’re not sure yet what we’re doing for the Super Bowl. Honestly, we don’t care much about who wins and it seem silly to spend that time in some smoky high-priced bar.

Well if you’ve read through this long, thanks for caring. I guess if I updated a little more often my posts wouldn’t be as long as book!
